Take Your Own Boot Measurements  -

Capri's Custom made boots are just that, Custom!  They are not "off-the-shelf" boots.  Each boot is custom made to the measurements and specifications of the individual Santa.  In fact, the boots are made to fit the individual foot.  Even if the measurement for the right foot is different from the left foot!  This is especially good if you have a high instep or other foot problems.  All custom boots are made with an inside zipper for easy on and off.

If you live in, or will be visiting Southern California soon, and would like to visit Capri Shoes in person, for a tour, to be measured and to order your Santa Boots, please call (714) 812-9777.

Before you start taking any measurements you will need:

  • a pen or pencil.

  • a cloth tape measure.

  • some white paper large enough to put your foot on.

  • A print-out of this page with the form below.  You can also type in your information on this page and them print it out

  • You should also have an assistant or elf help you.

An assistant or elf will help to make sure that you get a better measurement.  We suggest that you measure over socks and pants material as appropriate, what you would normally wear when you have your boots on.   Once you have your measurements, write them down on the order form in the spaces provided.

Your Foot Print -

We could ask you to go to your local shoe store and get measured by the store clerk.  But sometimes those measurements are not always correct.  And the store clerks are not always professionals.  To simplify matters, we have a convenient way to find out what your custom boot size should be.

  • While standing in your stocking feet, place a foot on a piece of paper in front of you on a flat, solid surface.  Have your elf trace the outline of your foot.  This should be your true foot print and will be the basic measurement for the bottom of your foot.  Note: Take measurements for EACH FOOT with the same socks on as you will be wearing.  Be sure to measure from the floor.  Measure on a hard surface, not carpet.

  • Hold the pencil at a 90° angle, as straight, up-and-down, as possible while drawing. And, be sure that the side of the pencil remains in constant contact with your foot during this process.  Make sure the point of the pen or pencil is DIRECTLY below the edge of your foot.

  • DO NOT let the pen or pencil angle in or out as that will enlarge or reduce the drawing of you foot.

  • You do not need to measure the distance from toe to heal or the width.  Our craftsmen will measure your drawing and use the measurements to assemble the shoe block upon which your boot will be constructed.

  •  Do this for EACH FOOT! Sometimes we don't even know there are differenced in each foot.

  • These drawings or tracings must be mailed with your order.  They cannot be faxed, e-mailed or otherwise sent other than regular mail.  Electronic mail or fax can distort the image and / or reduce the size of the drawing, which makes them useless.

Foot Tracing Checklist:

___My bare foot was flat on the floor and didn’t move while it was being traced.

___My feet were not swollen when tracing.

___My toes were not curled up when tracing.

___I am sure I held the pen or pencil straight up and down around the sides, the toes, and back of the heel.

Actual Measurements

These can be entered in the boxes below and when you are done just print this page out for mailing.

  • Again, while standing with your foot firmly on the floor, have your elf use the tape measure to take your foot measurements around your leg and foot as shown in the drawing below.  Measure 1) the circumference around the ball of your foot.

  • 2) your instep, from the arch over the top, all the way around, 3) your heel, 4) your ankle,  A) the measurement from the floor to where you measured your ankle, 5) your calf, at the largest point. B) the measurement from the floor to where you measured the calf,  and finally 6) the diameter of your under knee and C) the measurement from the floor to where you measured your under knee.

  • The last two measurements, the calf and the under knee, should be made with your Santa pants on.  This will give us a good idea of how much room to leave in the boot so you can tuck the leg of the pants into the boot.  Measure from the floor to the inside of the knee and then subtract 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the measurement.  This will allow your boots to be the maximum height  without cutting off your circulation when sitting down.

Note: The under knee measurement should be approximately 1" below the point where your knee bends.  This should allow you to sit comfortably and not have the top of boot bite into the back of your knee.   (Our Standard Santa Boots are 15 to 17 inches in height, depending on how tall the Santa is.)
